Fistula-in-ano is termed as the Bhagandara. It is a track that opens deeply in the anal canal and on the skin around the anus. This track is generally developed from the Bhagandara Pidika or the ano-rectum waste that burst spontaneously. This track does not heal by itself due to the presence of fecal contamination and unhealthy granulation. This can occur with or without any symptoms. It is a surgical procedure.

This procedure is termed the Kshar Sutra wherein a medicinal thread is prepared using various herbs and medicines and is inserted in the fistula with the help of the probe.
